- Lorna Tan has left Singapore
Press Holdings (SPH) where she was The Sunday Times’ Invest
editor and The Straits Times’ senior finance correspondent. She
joined property giant CapitaLand on Aug 15, 2011 as its senior vice
president, corporate communications. CapitaLand is a global real estate
player in more than 110 cities in over 20 countries. It is the leading foreign
real estate developer in China, the largest shopping mall developer,
owner, manager in Asia, the world’s largest international
serviced residence owner-operator and the leading Asia-based real
estate fund and REIT manager.
- Prior to CapitaLand, she was
with SPH from 2000 till Aug 12, 2011, where she primarily covered
financial news, including property, banking, wealth management and
personal finance. She holds a BA (Social Sciences) and an MBA.
- Lorna has won many accolades
for her journalistic work. Among them were numerous in-house, national
and international awards for excellence in business reporting. They
included two awards from Hong Kong-based Society of Publishers in Asia
in 2004 and 2006, and three awards from the Securities Investors
Association of Singapore (SIAS), in 2003, 2005 and 2007. These included
the prestigious Financial Journalist of the Year award from SIAS in
2007. Lorna also won annual excellence awards from SPH for two
consecutive years in 2005 and 2006.
- In Oct 2010, she was recognised
by the Financial Planning Association of Singapore for promoting
financial literacy and raising awareness of industry developments.
- Her articles in The Sunday
Times have been compiled in a book Talk Money and it is available in
major bookstores. A second volume is slated for publication in 2012.
- Before joining SPH, Lorna was a
regional sales & support manager with Canada-based Thomson
Financial, now known as Thomson Reuters.
